The services Southwest Digital Laboratory typically provide to individuals and small or home offices are different from what we do for larger organizations.  These services tend to revolve around three topics; viruses, old or slow systems, and data recovery.  And while we welcome any business from all our clients, 90% of the SOHO work we do fits into one of these three categories.

Many of our smaller clients bought computers that included a limited time license for an antivirus or internet security package.  Over time the license expires or the product becomes obsolete and they fail to get a replacement.  Inevitably the wrong file gets opened or the wrong website is visited and some kind of malicious software is installed on the computer.  The resultant problems range from a complete system crash, to slowed performance, to unexpected behavior of the system.  If this happens to you give us a call at 915-544-2034 and make arrangements to bring your system by the lab.  We can run a scan on your hard drive to detect malicious software, remove it, and try to return your computer to its original state.  Results may vary depending on the number and type of 'infection', but we generally have good outcomes.

Old or slow computers, when they visit the lab, first go through the same steps as above, just to make sure its not a virus problem.  Then we examine the state of the hardware, the version and updates to the operating system (usually windows) and the number and kinds of programs that are installed.  Sometimes the computers we see are so old they can not effectively be upgraded or reloaded.  Other times we can do something, either with hardware or software, to restore or improve the performance.  Call us here at Southwest Digital Laboratory and we will try to help!
